This book is a lavishly illustrated bibliography that showcases one of the world's largest private collections of African American cookbooks, ranging from rare nineteenth-century texts to modern classics.

For three months, I looked through the author's collection of more than 150 cookbooks, marking pages to be scanned and taking note of the vast array of visual styles. Getting to know the material so intimately greatly informed my design choices for the book.
