A Pictorial Exploration of Feminity in the Mid-Century American South, this hand-bound artist’s book contains 34 black and white photographs taken by FSA period photographers and several women’s studies scholar’s opinions about what it means to be a woman from the South. Inspired by the garments worn in the photographs, each book has a different feed sack pattern for the cover, but the interiors are all the same.
