about

Analyzing histories of film reception, convergence, and race relations over seven decades, this pioneering book undertakes a multifaceted reading of one of Hollywood’s most notorious films, Disney’s, Song of the South. Considering Disney’s strict licensing policies, I had to find a way to capture the essence of the film’s characters and setting without using their exact likeness.
