A Brief Cultural History of Snake Farm

Published in conjunction with the lecture, “Can Publishing Save Your Soul?” sponsored by the Risograph Lab at St. Edward’s University, Austin, TX

2017

Inspired by the infamous Central Texas roadside attraction, this fun little Riso printed zine examines the cultural significance of Snake Farm. After visiting the farm, I was particularly drawn to the brightly colored tropical snakes tightly wound and motionless in their small enclosures.

The accordion fold structure provides panels of stories, anecdotes, found imagery, and four novelty postcards. Printed in three colors, including metallic gold, this publication was a collaboration with the fine folks running the Risograph Lab who printed, trimmed, folded, and glued this small, limited edition.
