about

Created during a weekend seminar at Texas State University, undergraduate student, Mason Polka, and I were tasked with designing and printing a publication to accompany an exhibition to be held in the Texas State Galleries. We chose the San Antonio based art group ALAS whose work is rough and ready and focused on public performances and interactions. The resulting publication starts as a triangle and unfolds into a square with each of the four panels revealing a letter from ALAS’s name. The artists installed a working bar as part of the exhibit, in response, we placed a single white cocktail napkin inside the folded publication. A sort of lowbrow Easter egg, we stamped the napkins with a common emblem found in ALAS' printed media.
